Blog 13: Lesson 2 Reflection

          What are you most proud of in your lesson 2 presentation and why?

          The use of my personal experiences throughout my presentation. I could actually relate to the situations given and have been through them. I feel like it makes presentations more passionate.

          a. What assessment would you give yourself on your lesson 2 presentation?

           b. Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the lesson 2 component contract.
                 I hesitated in some areas of my presentation and forgot to cite one of my sources.

          What worked for you in you lesson 2?

           Using examples I felt passionate towards and really knew about helped me. I also found that when I took time to do my activity I got the chance to think about what maybe I had missed and got to collect my thoughts again.

           What didn't work? If you had a imd machine, what would you have done differently to improve your lesson two?

           The amount of slides, I feel if I had added a few more with some key points I wouldn't have forgot any information and been a bit more confident when I spoke.

         What do you think your answer 2 is going to be?

           From where my research is going, I think that my answer two will probably be when a therapist has fully evaluated it's client than making the time to set a reachable plan to best benefit the client and his or her situation.

Blog 12: Mentorship 10 Hour Check

1. Where are you doing your mentorship?
     I started out doing a lot at home but I have gone to a few organizations like cancer walks and discussions and a senior facility.

2. Who is your contact?
     Lela Williams, a lady I have done hours with at senior homes.

3. How many total hours have you done?
     Sixteen

4. Summarize the 10 hours of service that you did.
     A lot of research for resources for clients, in other words paper work and documentation. Interaction and conversations to observe behavior and maintenance in senior facility.

Blog 11: Holiday Project Update

1. What did you do over break with your senior project?
     I didn't do very much with my project besides looking up research on counseling and psychology.

2. What is the most important thing you learned from what you did and why? What was the source of what you learned?
     My source was the Internet and I didn't find much more new information or methods that I haven't touched on throughout are research checks but active listening plays a huge role and benefits both client and counselor.

3. If you were going to do a 10 question interview on questions related to answers for your EQ, who would you talk to and why?
     I would talk to my mentor or another expert in the field that has experience with people to end up with legit, reliable answers that could benefit my project.

Lesson 1 Reflection

1. Positive Statement
          What are you most proud of in your lesson 1 presentation and why?
The fact that I was able to use all of my time giving information without necessary pauses and breaks. I also liked the examples I got to share because I felt that my stories were worth sharing and simple and straight- forward when trying to explain.

Having key words that help me remember when I should bring up certain points.

4. (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your lesson 1?

Rehearse more so I could be more comfortable while talking and share some more experiences and more about what counseling offers.

Canceled Plans

This month was really slow, I didn't do much for mentorship. I was supposed to meet with my mentor a few times and volunteer at a walk for Breast Cancer a couple weeks ago and didn't get to go to the office to help as much as I would have liked to. All I did was work on my resources and find information for potential patients in my own time. Although this month wasn't as productive as I would have liked, I did get to meet with my mentor to interview her for my second interview for senior project. We talked about how she got to where she's at now in her career and if she'd recommend her profession to others but more specifically, myself.

Blog 8- Research and Working EQ

What is the most effective way to ensure a family or patient is receiving information and counseling?

2. What is a possible way to answer your eq?
The most effective way to ensure a family or patient receives information and counseling is through effective communication and active listening.

3. What is the most important source you have used that has help you answer your eq?
My mentor and talking and working with her.

4. Who is your mentor or where are you doing your mentorship, and how does that what you do help you answer your eq?
My mentor is Joanne Carr and she has given me her knowledge on what she experts in and gives me advice .

Blog 7: Independent Component 1 Approval

1. For my independent component and for the thirty hours required, I plan to volunteer at several different facilities and organizations to add to my topic knowledge. I also plan to keep mentoring my mentor, Joanne Carr.


2. To meet the expectation of showing the thirty hours I will document my work through pictures and or handouts or flyers from the organizations I will be volunteering at to show proof.


3. Volunteering more will show me what the environment might be like when you need to counsel someone or be able to see who is in need of counseling.
