This month wasn't very productive towards my senior project to be honest. I had some trouble with my third interview and was focusing on trying to contact my mentor and get a different person to interview, which didn't necessarily happen.
Although, I did work on my independent component and watch a few films that are involved in counseling. I also have kept up with my articles to further my research. I plan on continuing my independent component hours and going to mentorship soon.

Blog 17: Answer 3
Essential Question:
"What is the most effective way for a therapist to support a struggling client?"
Answer 3:
An effective way for a therapist to support a struggling client is through achieving self- realization of the client's current issue or situation.
If a client is unaware that their situation isn't "normal", getting them to realize this helps with the process of treatment. Many people are very sensitive with the idea of counseling and are in denial of their current situation as an issue. Getting a client to fully accept and be open about their struggle allows them to be more susceptible to the idea of change and might want it for themselves. All of this has been taught to me through my mentor and through a article about individuals in denial.
When a client wants to change for themselves, to be better and move on in life, the process may go a lot smoother. The client will want to see change and will have self -motivation and that is greatly admired in the counseling community.

Blog 11: Holiday Project Update
1. What did you do over break with your senior project?
I didn't do very much with my project besides looking up research on counseling and psychology.
2. What is the most important thing you learned from what you did and why? What was the source of what you learned?
My source was the Internet and I didn't find much more new information or methods that I haven't touched on throughout are research checks but active listening plays a huge role and benefits both client and counselor.
3. If you were going to do a 10 question interview on questions related to answers for your EQ, who would you talk to and why?
I would talk to my mentor or another expert in the field that has experience with people to end up with legit, reliable answers that could benefit my project.

Blog 5 - Mentorship Reflection
Describe the experience in how you found your mentorship. If you haven't found one yet, describe your experience so far in the search for a mentor.
As of right now, my home- health counseling mentor is a lovely lady named Joanne Carr. This summer I wanted to find someone who could effectively help me throughout my senior year. I struggled most of my summer finding people who would actually commit to the project I introduced them to but my grandma mentioned to me that she had a co- worker that happened to be a social worker. When I heard this, I asked for her contact information and Joanne was more than pleased to work with me.
Even though I now officially have a mentor, I am working with my house teacher to find a mentor for a totally different topic. Why? Well, I have always had the dream to be a model and when the school year started I realized, sure I am interested in counseling but I am passionate about modeling so why not give it a try while the school year is still early? It's not a definite change but it's definitely something I am trying to work on to become reality.
What has been your most important article you have read so far and why?
The most important article I have read so far on the topic of social work and counseling has been " Diabetes Management in Young People - Family Matters" which is about the importance of family support when a member is in need and how they all learn to contribute to the situation in some way and ways that make an illness not as stressful and smooth sailing.
